Bill Condon - Dreamgirls	Movie is a winner, but will have to be much more dominant for the directing win
Stephen Frears - The Queen (GG)	Circumstance would have to smile broadly
Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu - Babel (GG)	Very showy... but was showy last time too
Todd Field - Little Children	Wasn't nom'ed for In The Bedroom... this could be the time
Gabriele Muccino - The Pursuit of Happyness	The newcomer... but if the movie revs up, he could too... but critics may put their foot down
Mel Gibson - Apocalypto	He's a fine director... and a bit of a nut... but will he really be rewarded for a moderately successful action film? Magic 8 Ball Says, "no."
Steven Soderbergh - The Good German	A daring effort
