Breaking the Caves
Emily Watson reflects on her Outback experience working on Nick Cave's new movie, The Proposition, which finishes shooting in Winton this week, she plays the English wife of a policeman (Ray Winstone) sent to an outback town to tackle lawlessness brought on by murderous outlaw brothers. Watson said the film was typical of Cave, who wrote the dark, violent drama set in the 1800s. "When you read a script that has Nick Cave's name on the front you think, 'This is going to be interesting'," she said, raising her eyebrows. "It is so rare to read something these days that is so ambitious and so epic, and it's a sort of classic fable, a western, and it's very intelligent and challenging."
