Mel made a very big decision not to take out any ads or do any advertising.
Because of the lack of advertising I thought it was sort of a long shot, to be
honest. The fact that its gotten three nominations bodes very well for the
academy and being able to sort of look at the work as professional work. Im
very happy for Mel.
John Debney, Original Score nominee for The Passion of the Christ.
"We are thrilled that 'Sideways' has been acknowledged for five nominations
including Best Picture and that our screenplay was singled out for recognition.
Rex Pickett's novel was a magnificent source to work from, with its hilarious,

actors, walking the fine line between comedy and drama with precision and warmth,
made our script and the film the best it could be." --Alexander
Payne and Jim Taylor, Adapted Screenpla nominees for Sideways

Roodt, writer-director of Foreign Language nominee Yesterday, South Africa's

recognition. So you're happy but it's ... it's a strange thing to go though. It's
a big day on set. I'm going to let myself jump around my hotel room and be very,
very happy, and then I'm going to go to work." -

Im really thrilled because it took a lot to have the hubris to tackle

many billion people are watching. -
