LOS ANGELES—Formerly known as The American Pavilion and newly renamed, AmPav: The Pavilion at Cannes is gearing up for its 19th year as the communications and hospitality center for industry professionals, media, and guests at the 60th annual Cannes International Film Festival.
“The perception of ‘The Pavilion’ was that we were being exclusive in our membership, when in fact we’re pleased that more than 40% of our membership is made up of journalists and industry professionals from countries other than the U.S.,” commented founder Julie Sisk.
Located at the heart of the Cannes Film Festival within easy walking distance of the Palais des Festivals, AmPav is a full-service business and entertainment venue. Providing services for the International entertainment community, membership can be purchased from AmPav for use of The Pavilion during the 2007 film festival, including a bar and restaurant with food prepared by the culinary team, who will delight tastebuds with a meal or a light snack.
With a capacity of more than 2,500 people, members are provided with free wireless internet access, use of the AmPav space to relax or do business during the day, daily access to the Los Angeles Times, Screen International, Cannes Market News, Moving Pictures International, and the special Cannes edition of The Hollywood Reporter delivered on a regular basis inside The Pavilion. The fully equipped on-site business center is also available to members to assist with the needs of conducting day-to-day business while in Cannes. Computer stations, printing, copying, faxing, and shipping by Midnite Express can be accessed inside AmPav.
AmPav is thrilled to welcome Cisco Systems, sponsor of AmPav’s Wireless Café, and “Access Hollywood,” for whom AmPav will serve as the studio for their daily entertainment news program. They will join an illustrious list of longtime supporters, without whom AmPav would not exist: Adobe, sponsoring the student filmmaking program; British Airways, official airline partner; Coca-Cola; Costentino Winery from Napa Valley; The Hollywood Reporter; Los Angeles Times; Midnite Express, the official shipping partner; SAGIndie/Screen Actors Guild, sponsoring student roundtable discussions; WireImage, the Official Photographer for AmPav; and the Ritz Carlton as their official hotel partner.
AmPav also plays host to the popular “Industry in Focus” and “In Conversation” series that take place throughout the festival, welcoming some of the many industry professionals and stars visiting the south of France for this highly-regarded annual event. The series have attracted guests such as Francis Ford Coppola, Anjelica Huston, Quentin Tarantino, and Kevin Kline, as well as industry moguls such as Harvey Weinstein, and the leaders of such entertainment companies as New Line, Paramount, Dreamworks, and Warner Bros.
With a redesigned interior, The Pavilion at Cannes includes the new “Salles des Conferences” space that holds 150 people and a media terrace with a spectacular Mediterranean backdrop. Both are available by reservation for press conferences and photo calls. The luxury of the covered space makes The Pavilion at Cannes the ideal place for studios and industry organizations to hold special events and is available for hire.
AmPav: The Pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival is celebrating its 19th year as the communications and hospitality center for industry professionals at the Cannes Film Festival. AmPav is open to members from 8 am to 7 pm daily, with private hire and special event availability from 8 pm to 1 am. Pre-registration, which runs through May 11, offers a 50% discount on the membership fee. Those who choose to register in-person in Cannes can do so for the full-price membership fee of $100 beginning May 16. A limited number of Red Carpet memberships are available, which includes nightly cocktail parties in the AmPav/LA Times corporate apartment overlooking the coveted red-carpeted steps of the Palais, gift basket, and a designated private area within the Pavilion, all for a one-time fee of $750.
