VALERIE
VAN GALDER NAMED PRESIDENT, DOMESTIC MARKETING
FOR COLUMBIA TRISTAR MOTION PICTURE GROUP
(Culver City, December
15, 2005) -- Valerie Van Galder has been named President of Domestic
Marketing for the Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group, it was announced
today by Jeff Blake, Chairman of Marketing and Distribution for the
Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group.
Van Galder, who
previously served as President of TriStar Pictures, will immediately
begin working on the studio's upcoming slate from Columbia Pictures,
Revolution Studios, TriStar Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation, which
includes such highly anticipated films as The DaVinci Code starring
Tom Hanks under the direction of Ron Howard, RV starring Robin Williams
and directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, Click starring Adam Sandler, The Pursuit
of Happyness, starring Will Smith, Sony Pictures Animation's first full
length CGI feature film Open Season, Freedomland, starring Julianne
Moore and Samuel L. Jackson and directed by Joe Roth, the new James
Bond adventure Casino Royale directed by Martin Campbell, the new Performance
Capture animated film Monster House and Spider-Man® 3, among others.
While leading the
marketing group, Van Galder will also continue to shepherd the three
films she developed on behalf of TriStar, which includes Running With
Scissors, Silent Hill and Premonition.
Van Galder has been
a pivotal member of the studio's marketing team while overseeing creative
advertising, publicity and promotions for all Screen Gems titles. She
also was assigned marketing duties on some of Columbia Pictures recent
awards contenders, including Adaptation, Big Fish and Closer.
Blake praised Van Galder's leadership on launching The Exorcism of Emily
Rose, Underworld, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Boogeyman and You Got Served,
all of which opened #1 at the box office.

is a great talent who consistently delivers extraordinary and innovative
campaigns on a wide variety of films and we look forward to her fresh

Van Galder on last year's release of Closer "She does her job with

Prior to revitalizing
the TriStar label, she served as Executive Vice President of Marketing
for Screen Gems leading the theatrical launch of such films as The Mothman
Prophecies, Snatch, and The Brothers, among others. Prior to Screen
Gems, Van Galder served as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Publicity
at Fox Searchlight, where she oversaw the marketing campaigns on such
films as The Full Monty, Waking Ned Devine, The Ice Storm, and The Brothers
Mc Mullen.
Before joining Searchlight,
Van Galder was Vice President of Marketing and Publicity at Hard Rock
America. She began her career at Rogers and Cowan in the motion picture
publicity department after graduating from UCLA.
