Film Competition Winners

New York, NY - April 30, 2005 - The fourth annual Tribeca Film Festival, co-founded by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff, and presented by American Express, today announced the winners of the Festival's film competition at an awards ceremony at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center in Tribeca.

A full list of awards, sponsors, presenters, prize amounts and associated artwork is attached.

This year's Festival included more than 250 films from 45 countries on six continents, and featured panel discussions, filmmaker events, gala premieres of major studio releases, the Family Festival, and visits by delegations from Sarajevo and Shanghai.

"We congratulate the winning filmmakers and look forward to seeing more great work from each of them," said De Niro.

"I was asked this week, what is the Tribeca Film Festival all about? Are you about American film, or international film?" said Jane Rosenthal, Co-Founder of the Tribeca Film Festival. "The answer is both because this is New York. Like our City, we have strived to make our film festival a microcosm of the world. New York is local and it is global and in the same breadth. So too, we have the same hopes for Tribeca.

"In 2005 we greatly expanded the reach and impact of the Tribeca Film Festival," said Hatkoff. "The number of foreign films we featured and the international delegations we hosted helped make us as a global marketplace for film. At the same time, the Festival remains committed to Lower Manhattan and this great city."

"As an organization that prides itself on enabling creative endeavors, American Express is privileged to acknowledge and help support two filmmakers who have emerged at this Festival, not only for having produced remarkable pieces of work, but for truly embodying the Festival's incomparable energy and dynamic," said John Hayes, chief marketing officer of American Express.

"The only complaints our jurors seem to have had this year is that they had so many good films to choose from. And the members of our two feature juries went out of their way to remark how appreciative they were that the films they watched had helped expose them to a wealth of different worlds not represented often enough in our movie theatres," said Peter Scarlet, executive director of the Tribeca Film Festival.

In addition to cash awards and in-kind services provided by sponsors - including American Express; New York State Governor's Office for Motion Picture and Television Development; New York City Mayor's Office of Film, Theater and Broadcasting; Post Factory; Kodak; Budweiser/Triggerstreet.com; The Playboy Foundation; Delta Air Lines; Alfred P.
