WARNER BROS. PICTURES' NEW COMEDY MALIBU'S MOST WANTED OFFERS HIP-HOP
FANS A SHOT AT RAP STARDOM
BURBANK, CA, March
24, 2003 - In the spirit of the new hip-hop comedy Malibu's Most
Wanted, starring Jamie Kennedy, Warner Bros. Pictures has
launched the Malibu's Most Wanted Rapper Search Contest, a national
contest that offers undiscovered rappers a chance to perform live at
the Los Angeles premiere of Malibu's Most Wanted on April 10th
and win the Grand Prize of $1,000 cash and a trip to see Snoop Dogg
in concert.
Opening nationwide on April 18th, Jamie Kennedy stars in Malibu's
Most Wanted as Brad "B-Rad" Gluckman, Malibu's most unwanted
rapper, whose hip-hop lifestyle hinders his father's bid for governor.
When his dad's campaign manager concocts a scheme to neutralize the
"problem" and teach B-Rad a lesson about what gangsta life
is really like, he proves to the playa-haters that he's for real and
wins the affection of a business-savvy South Central hottie.
The Malibu's Most Wanted Rapper Search Contest kicked off on
March 17th and is taking place through March 28th in the following cities:
Atlanta with WWWQ-FM (Q 100), Baltimore with WHFS-FM, Boston with WJMN-FM
and WXKS-FM (Kiss 108), Detroit with WJLB-FM (FM 98), Chicago with WGCI-FM,
Phoenix with KKFR-FM (Power 92), St. Louis with KSLZ-FM (Z107) and KPLR-TV
(The WB), Los Angeles with KPWR-FM (Power 106) and New York with WQHT-FM
(Hot 97). Local radio stations in each city will solicit participants
to perform raps; DJs in these markets will hand-pick the top three winners
from their cities.
The top three contenders from each of the nine contest markets will
then have their biography, photo and rap posted to the official Malibu's
Most Wanted website at www.malibusmostwanted.com. From April 1-April
6, the public can cast their votes for their top three favorite wannabe
rappers on the website. When the online voting polls close, the top
three finalists who rocked the mic and won the most votes will win a
trip to Los Angeles to receive a VIP tour of Warner Bros. Studios and
attend the premiere of Malibu's Most Wanted with the film's stars
on April 10th.
The three finalists will also compete in a "rap off" covered
by national and local press where a Grand Prize Winner will be chosen
by L.A.'s Good Fellas of Power 106. The Grand Prize Winner will perform
live at the Malibu's Most Wanted premiere and win $1,000 cash
and a trip to see Snoop Dogg in concert sometime in June 2003
at a location TBD (inclusive of two coach airfare tickets and two nights
hotel, room and tax only).
